Safflower oil, refined and thickened, for diluting oil paints.

The advantage of safflower oil over linseed oil is that it does not tend to yellow and, as a result, is neutral to the color of paints.

But, unlike linseed oil, it takes longer to dry.

Compatible with any pigments, and can also be used in a mixture with linseed.

Oil without siccative.

Safflower oil is extracted from safflower seeds. Safflower is an oil and dye southern herbaceous plant. Safflower seeds contain up to 60% oil. Safflower oil is obtained by pressing or extraction. Safflower oil is a semi-drying oil. Its acid content is similar to nut oil. It dries in the air in 8-12 days. Safflower oil produces a light, non-yellowing film, but the paint layer becomes more fragile over time than linseed oil.

The oil's freezing point is from -13 to -20 °C, and its kinematic viscosity at 20 °C is (61-85)⋅10−6 m/s.
