Artificial pigment composition Pb2SnO4. Color - light ocher (reminiscent of massicot). Coverage is average. Known for a long time, found in painting at the turn of the 13th - 14th centuries, was widely used until the beginning of the 18th century. It is obtained artificially, by careful annealing of white lead in a special mode with the addition of ground tin. Binder traditionally used yolk emulsion. Like all lead, it turns black from hydrogen sulfide, but is more stable due to the presence of tin in it. It is found in Russian miniatures of the 11th century, as well as in Western European painting.
