At very high temperatures (1200 - 1300°C), titanium dioxide irreversibly turns grayish-yellow or dark brown. The melting point of titanium dioxide is 1840+10°C.

Titanium dioxide accelerates the fading of organic dyes in coatings formed by both water-based and oil-based paints. When polymer modifiers and surfactants (quaternary ammonium salts, aliphatic amines, alcohols, etc.) are applied to the titanium dioxide surface, wetting of the pigment by film-forming agents and water is facilitated, dispersion is improved, pigment settling during enamel storage is reduced, and the gloss of the coating is increased.
