The composition of watercolors uses finely ground, concentrated pigments and highly purified gum arabic. A high degree of grinding on a ceramic paint grinder produces transparent, pure and saturated colors. Watercolors mix well, are easily washed and have high lightfastness.

Light yellow or lemon yellow nickel titanates are solid solutions of nickel and antimony oxides in titanium dioxide, sometimes with the development of oxides of other metals.

With high hiding power, it has a fairly low coloring power (5 times lower than that of yellow lead crown). The color of the pigment depends on the ratio of the components. The purest and brightest lemon-yellow color has compounds containing nickel and antimony oxides in an amount of 2.6 - 6.1%. By replacing nickel and antimony with chromium, cobalt, iron, zinc and their combinations, it is possible to obtain a whole series of shades from yellow to green, blue, brown and even gray. They became widespread after 1950, before that they were used exclusively in the production of ceramics.

They are obtained by calcining at 1000 ° C a batch consisting of metatitanic acid, nickel carbonate and antimony oxide (III).
